Videographer

Wendy totally recommends a Videographer. I want to check it out. I found this site, which might help later.

Union Station Los Angeles

Marlin says it's played out. It still looks awesome and could be a possibility.

The Long Beach Museum of Art

Could be a possibility.

I love the long table set up rather than the round.

The Hunt Continues

We visited the Alex Theatre on Saturday and discovered that it would just not work. There is simply not enough space for a sit down reception inside. Additionally, there is no elevator and the best part of the theatre is the upstairs. And so the hunt continues...

Marlin suggested the Los Angeles Theatre. We we definitely will look into it. I'm kind of wondering though if it is going to look a bit, how you say, gaudy.

I'm a fan

Resource

I've come across this wonder website that lists old theatres in the Southern California area.

It is where I discovered the Alex Theatre and a few more.

I've put in an application at the Pomona Fox. I'm not sure of their fees, or even what it looks like. It's been closed for a while.

Possible Venue

Alex Theatre

So I've fallen in love with this venue and I'm going for it. We'll see if it works out.

I would want to do the ceremony in the theatre part and the reception in the lobby or terrace.

It is a bit pricey, but not over the top. At least that's what I think so far.

Would these colors go better with the Art Deco Theatre?

I love the bridesmaid colors

Ideas!

I love the idea of naming the different tables after performances!

The Hunt

The Ceremony
The time has finally come for me to start getting real about my planning and that begins with the ceremony.

Oliver and I are not religious. We do not belong to a church. For the most, part churches in Southern California are not very attractive, which is why I don't want to get married in a church.

We want to get married in the beginning of the year, because it is less crowded and hot for our honeymoon. Also, we don't want a long engagement (it's hard enough for us to wait as long as we are).

I want to get married somewhere that is romantic and beautiful. I started with those wedding websites: the knot, wedding compass, etc., which are great starters. They have multiple photos of weddings and ideas, which is great, but the vendor list gets stale very fast.

Getting married on the beach is not going to happen. My hair will frizz up in minutes. Outdoor is too risky before June. So that leaves indoors and money. They have places that are beautiful, but will cost you 30k plus and then they have those wedding "places" with that tacky white picket fence stuff that makes you cringe.

So I went on the google hunt for something different, something romantic, something my mother will pay for. I discovered a wedding in an old theatre. It was beautiful. It was simple. They took candles of different heights and created a horseshoe shape around where they had the ceremony on stage. No tacky floral arrangements. No white picketed arch way. Just white candles surrounding them.

I fell in love. again.

Theme Wedding

This couple did not hold back.

They created an entire Theatre theme wedding.

Now this isn't something I'm quite looking for, but it is a start.

My first blog

Alright well this is my first entry and as Jessica put it, I am a nerd. hehe

I just want a place to store all these ideas I come across for my wedding. Unfortunately a lot of my research is at work (shhh) and I don't have access to my links when I'm at home.

Getting Started
So as of now, I'm really excited about having our wedding in an older theatre. I saw a picture of a couple that did it and I fell in love with the idea.

Additionally I was extremely burnt out on the wedding venues that come on those wedding websites. They are either scream generic blah wedding or cost an amount of money that I cannot fathom spending on one day.

When I saw this theatre idea I jumped! I'm running with it and I hope I can pull it off!
